From 8 to 10, March, Sri Lanka Investment and Business Conclave 2016, hosted by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, was held in Colombo, aiming to help potential investment organizations, enterprises, individuals and SMEs to tap into local trade and investment opportunities. ASTORIA developed by Avic International Hotels Lanka Ltd was the Platinum Sponsor of the summit.

In the message to the summit, Maithripala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka, observed that the Government has launched a major drive to attract quality FDIs to help propel the development of drive of the country, and that the event is “important and timely”.

Samantha Ranatunga, Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, said in the Welcome Address on 8 March, that the conference this year attracted over 100 foreign investors to take part in the conclave, showing serious interest towards tapping the opportunities the Sri Lankan economy ins presenting to the world. During the summit, senior government officials introduced strategies and policies of attracting business partnerships and investments to Sri Lanka. On 10 March, foreign participants were invited to field visits to Sri Lanka Export Processing Zones, Colombo Stock Exchange and Port of Colombo. Zhou Qi, General Manager of Beijing Lansing Century Exhibition CO., Ltd, was the Plenipotentiary of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and successfully organized over 10 Chinese companies to participate.
